I have spent most of my life writing about other people's lives. First with poetry as a kid and then as a reporter starting in college. I continued as a reporter, then editor, then eventually in marketing. I have interviewed more people than I can count. My goal has always been to tell their story honestly and unbiased. The photos I take of them I see as an extension of this goal. They need to be honest as well. Over the years if I have accomplished nothing else...I hope I have always been fair in my reporting of others' lives.
I have interviewed families at their best times and their worst times. I have stood in icy water
as firefighters have fought a blaze...journalism takes you many places. I've been privileged to interview individuals fighting cancer...some won the battle; others lost the battle but gained my respect in their courageous fight...so many stories....so many wonderful people along the way.
Wow, what a great blog entry. You should post some of the great stories as well as your own personal story. What would you want the world to know about you?
ReplyDeleteReading your blog made me think of all of the people we meet along the way that all have a story. I know I'm guilty of always wanting to hear people's stories. Your view of honesty and being unbiased mirrors my take on life. You never know what someone else's life is until you've lived it.
